Why I Became A Financial Advisor

By Tyler Stoviak

Sometimes a career journey is full of twists and turns, and sometimes you just know the right path to take. I fall into the second category. During my college years, I knew I wanted to pursue a career where I could help people and partner with them to find success in life, and the financial industry seemed to be the right place to do that. I earned my bachelor’s degree in finance from Syracuse University and began obtaining the experience and education necessary to launch a fulfilling and enjoyable career.

First Steps

After graduation, I interned at BGC Partners, working on the trading floor and providing client quotes for the interest rate dollar swap desk. From there, I became a portfolio accountant at T. Rowe Price and oversaw allocations of 38 different portfolios. Following my time at T. Rowe Price, I worked at Firstrust as a credit analyst underwriting commercial loans between $1-15 million and as a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch in New York City. With nine years of industry experience under my belt, I joined Massey Quick Simon in 2017.

My Role Today

Today, I am a client advisor for Massey Quick Simon, managing client relationships by assisting in the financial planning process and implementing investment portfolios. I spend my days counseling and advising clients on wealth management and financial planning needs, also working with endowments and foundations.

I am passionate about helping clients make informed decisions about all aspects of their financial life. I love that every day looks different and I get the opportunity to build relationships with my clients, actively listening to and seeking to understand their financial and emotional decision-making processes. With this insight, I help them create customized strategies designed to get them from point A to point B.

How I Can Help

I believe that my clients choose to work with me because of the high-touch service I provide and my commitment to helping each and every client preserve their capital and grow their wealth. My clients are unique in that many of them work in the financial services industry or are business executives or entrepreneurs. They all have unique stories and challenging financial needs and require tailored strategies to address risk management, tax minimization, and estate planning.
